For the past two seasons, the Seahawks have boasted a top-10 passing attack. First with Geno Smith at quarterback. Now with Sam Darnold. And in both seasons, with Jake Peetz coordinating their passing game.
Dan Campbell and the Lions will interview Peetz for their vacant offensive coordinator position, per NFL Network.
Peetz, 40, joined the Seahawks after two seasons as an offensive assistant with the Rams under Sean McVay, with whom he also coached in Washington in 2014 when McVay was the team's offensive coordinator.
The Seahawks were eighth in the NFL in passing yards and second in yards per attempt this season in Darnold's first year in Seattle. They also surrendered the fifth fewest sacks.
Peetz has spent 11 years coaching in the NFL, also coaching running backs and quarterbacks for the Panthers in 2018 and 2019, the second of those years under current Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady.
He does not have NFL play-calling experience, but did serve as OC and call plays at LSU in 2021. He also did two stints on Alabama's staff under Nick Saban.
Peetz interviewed for the Buccaneers offensive coordinator position last year, but lost out to then-Bucs passing game coordinator Josh Grizzard, who was fired this week.
