The Lions are struggling badly on defense to start the season. Wouldn't you know it, they're hoping another former Patriot can fix things.

Detroit is meeting with veteran DE Jabaal Sheard, according to Adam Schefter. Sheard, a free agent with 51.5 career sacks, "has been waiting for the right opportunity and deal."

Sheard overlapped with Quinn and Patricia in New England in 2015, then played another season under Patricia in 2016. He posted 13 sacks and 16 tackles for loss over 28 games with the Patriots.

After winning Super Bowl LII in New England, Sheard signed with the Colts, where he spent the last three seasons. He had 4.5 sacks and five tackles for loss in 13 games last year.

The Lions' pass rush is once again a problem. After finishing second to last in sacks last season, they have just two sacks and 11 QB pressures through two games this season.

In fact, the team's defense remains broken as a whole. The results were supposed to be different after Patricia and Quinn imported numerous former Patriots in the offseason. The personnel was supposed to be better suited for the scheme.

It hasn't worked.

But hey, maybe one more import is the answer.
