Former Celtics All-Star and likely Hall-of-Famer (he’s eligible to be inducted this summer) Paul Pierce netted an impressive $195.1 million over his 19 NBA seasons. Even with checks no longer coming from his former place of employment ESPN (an ill-advised livestream led to a “mutual parting of ways” earlier this month), Pierce’s NBA earnings should last him a while, leaving the 43-year-old with more than enough for a new multi-million-dollar home.

That said, it’s hard to imagine the Celtics great improving on the 16,000-square-foot Calabasas palace he just sold. The one-acre property contains, among other amenities, eight bedrooms (including a luxurious master suite), 10 bathrooms, a breathtaking state-of-the-art kitchen, a billiards room, bar, home theater, gym and a two-lane bowling alley adorned in keepsakes collected over a career spanning 1,343 NBA games, the 15th-most in league history. The colossal estate, which the Inglewood native purchased for a cool $6.5 million in 2009, also features a pair of hot tubs, considerable patio space, a glistening backyard pool and an outdoor basketball court proudly displaying the Celtics’ iconic leprechaun logo.

Pierce had been seeking $11 million for his Mediterranean mansion, though it sold for much less, going for a reported $8.7 million, according to Jack Flemming of the Los Angeles Times. The former Finals MVP listed his home through Douglas Elliman Real Estate last year, indicating the sale was not prompted by his departure from ESPN. A 10-time All-Star and the second-leading scorer in Celtics franchise history behind the late John Havlicek (the subject of a glorious “Mad Dog” Russo rant that made the rounds on social media recently), it’s unclear what Pierce has in mind for his post-ESPN career, though many suspect he’ll resurface at Barstool Sports, an enterprise run by unapologetic Boston fan Dave Portnoy.
