It was easy to overlook Saben Lee last year when the Pistons drafted three players before him. Then the 38th overall pick kept making it harder and harder.
Lee played in 48 games for Detroit and provided a consistent spark off the bench. Among last year's second-rounders, he finished second only to the Grizzlies' Xavier Tillman in win shares.
And now the Pistons are locking him up for the future. A restricted free agent, Lee has signed a three-deal with Detroit, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
A point guard from Vanderbilt, Lee averaged 5.6 points and 3.6 assists as a rookie, the latter of which ranked fifth overall in the 2020 draft class. He's part of what GM Troy Weaver calls Detroit's Core Four.
The Pistons also have qualifying offers out to restricted free agents Hamidou Diallo and Frank Jackson.
