Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - Despite Von Miller believing he would be ready to suit up by Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season, the veteran Buffalo Bills pass rusher is expected to be placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to start the year, according to multiple reports.

Miller is still recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee that he suffered during Buffalo's Thanksgiving game this past season against the Detroit Lions.

The 34-year-old has been working off to the side at practices in Orchard Park, even getting to a point where's been wearing padded pants during his sessions. However, it wasn't enough to allow him to be ready for the Week 1 opener against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 11.

Not only will Miller miss the season opener against the Jets, he will also be forced to miss matchups with the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 2, Washington Commanders in Week 3 and Miami Dolphins in Week 4.

The earliest possible game Miller will be able to return for the Bills is a Week 5 matchup in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In his first season with the Bills last year, Miller managed to play 11 games, registering 21 total tackles, 10 tackles or loss, 12 quarterback hits, eight sacks and a forced fumble.

The Bills will now lean on the likes of A.J. Epenesa, Greg Rousseau, Leonard Floyd, and others to carry the load on the edge until Miller is ready to return from the PUP list.

The NFL roster cut-down deadline is slated for 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, where every team needs to get its roster to 53 players.
