DETROIT — The NFL Draft is officially underway.
And it was kicked off by a handful of Detroit legends and current Lions players.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell walked on the stage to kick things off Thursday night, joined by Detroit rapper Eminem — perhaps in (a failed) attempt to quell some of the customary boos.
They were soon joined by Lions legends Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders, as well as current Lions Jared Goff, Aidan Hutchinson and Amon-Ra St. Brown.
St. Brown, fresh off a monster contract extension, helped lead an absolute mass of humanity chanting Goff's name in Cadillac Square and Campus Martius, while Megatron simply said "what up doe?"
The chants of Goff's name became a staple last winter in Detroit -- and beyond -- as fans chanted his name everywhere from Red Wings and Pistons games to various events across the state as the Lions made their way to the NFC Championship Game.
About 10 minutes later, to exactly no one's surprise, the Chicago Bears drafted USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick.
General admission to the NFL Draft Experience was shut down around 6:30 p.m. as the event hit capacity, with reportedly more than 150,000 people inside the gates. Many events are still happening outside the walls of the Draft Experience, however, with Draft Day in the D parties and other festivities in Greektown and Corktown featuring large screens and speakers.
