Taysom Hill’s role on the New Orleans Saints will continue to be an intriguing one over the next few years, to say the least.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the quarterback/receiver agreed to a unique four-year, hybrid-type contract extension with the saints that could pay him anywhere between $40 million and $95 million, depending on which position he plays.
The contract includes $22.5 million in guaranteed money and will pay him a $40 million base salary for the role that he’s currently playing, per Schefter. He can earn an additional $55 million if he becomes the Saints’ starting quarterback for the next four seasons.
Hill, 31, had just restructured his contract last year, too, but it was effectively over at the end of this season due to several voidable years added in.
The Saints quarterback has essentially been a Swiss army knife for the team, playing snaps at quarterback, wide receiver and on special teams.

Last season, Hill saw his most work as quarterback in his career, attempting 121 passes and completing 88 of them for 928 yards and four touchdowns.
The Saints opted to go with Jameis Winston as their starting quarterback this season, with Hill only attempting eight passes under center.
But Winston tore his ACL and is out for the season. The team has resorted to Trevor Siemian as its starting quarterback with Hill serving as the backup. Hill did not see any game action in Sunday’s loss to the Eagles.
Hill is 7-of-8 passing for 56 yards and a touchdown this season. He's rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries and has four catches for 52 yards this season.
