Don't bury the Vikings just yet.
Coming out of the bye at 1-5, Minnesota has a 3.6 percent chance of making the playoffs, according to ESPN.
But Adam Thielen says "100 percent" this team can make a run.
"No one’s head has gone down," Thielen said Friday in his weekly interview with Dave Lee on WCCO. "Obviously guys are disappointed and wish we were in a better spot, but the great thing about this team is we have some great leaders, we have just great guys throughout the locker room. That makes a huge difference when you didn’t have the start you wanted, because guys are still busting their tail at practice, they’re preparing and everybody thinks we can win any game.
"We just have to go out there and execute and finish games and get some dubs coming out here now."
Thielen's comments echo those of TE Kyle Rudolph, who told NFL.com earlier this week that this is a much different situation than when the Vikings started 1-5 in 2013.
"That 1-5 team wasn't nearly as talented as we are now. That's why I draw more to 2017. We were 2-2 and everyone was writing us off. Then we won eight in a row," he said.
The Vikings wound up finishing 13-3 that year and made it to the NFC Championship Game before losing to the Eagles.
If this year's team has a similar surge in store, it will have to start Sunday at Lambeau Field in a matchup with the first-place Packers.
"There’s no better place to win that going to Lambeau and coming out of there with a W," Thielen said. "So hopefully we can do that Sunday."
The Vikings will get a boost from RB Dalvin Cook, who's expected to return after missing the team's Week 6 loss to the Falcons with a groin injury.
"He’s such a special player and an important piece to our locker room," Thielen said. "Excited to get him back on the field and see him help us win."
The Packers (5-1) have been carried by their offense thus far. But they also rank 11th in the NFL in total defense. Thielen and the Vikings will have to be at their best on Sunday to get back in the win column -- and trigger a potential turnaround.
"A great defense that is playing really well this year. Obviously their record shows that," Thielen said. "They can get after the passer, they got some guys inside, got some guys outside, and then in the backend they do a great job of playing team defense. They switch up their coverages, they make it hard for you to know what they’re doing.
"It's a great challenge for us, but that’s what you want in this league. You want to beat the best, play against the best and have success against the best."
