To promote the upcoming release of PGA Tour 2K23, 2K Sports brought together a pair of golf greats, one a 15-major champion and recipient of five green jackets, the other among the most revered movie villains in cinematic history (or, at the very least, the sports comedy genre). Appearing on his first video game cover in 10 years, Tiger Woods sat down for an interview with actor Christopher McDonald, best known for his heel turn as arrogant Shooter McGavin, archnemesis of novice golfer and fan favorite Happy Gilmore, as memorably portrayed by comedian Adam Sandler in the 1996 film of the same name.

Later, the two posed for a selfie, which the PGA Tour shared to its official Twitter account, tagging Sandler with the caption “Jealous?”

McDonald recently received an Emmy nomination for his guest arc on HBO’s Hacks, but the relentlessly smug McGavin will always be the role he’s most associated with. PGA 2K23 released its official trailer for the game on Monday, which hits shelves October 14th with a “deluxe” edition available three days prior on Play Station 5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consuls. Those who preorder 2K23 can also purchase the “Michael Jordan Bonus Pack,” unlocking the Chicago Bulls legend as a playable character. Other featured golfers include Woods, Justin Thomas, Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa and reigning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Will Zalatoris.

Back from a yearlong injury hiatus, Woods has only appeared in three tournaments this season, though he was recently summoned for a players-only meeting in Wilmington (site of last week’s BMW Championship) to discuss the PGA’s mass exodus, losing some of its biggest stars to LIV Golf, a competing tour funded by Saudi Arabia.
