Tom Brady weighs in on ball from 'final' TD pass that sold for over $500K

Shortly before Tom Brady announced his return from a decidedly brief retirement, the ball he threw for what was supposed to be his final NFL touchdown pass sold at auction for more than $500,000.

It's hard to say what that ball is worth now, if anything, but presumably it's decidedly less than what its purchaser paid only a short while ago.

Brady apparently caught wind of the brutal setback, and in true Brady fashion, used it as an opportunity to plug one of his business partners -- in this case, the digital asset exchange FTX.

Brady tweeted: "Hey [FTX] ... could we donate a Bitcoin to the charity of this person's choice?" The post also included a laughing emoji, and a video of the touchdown in question with a Bitcoin logo superimposed over the football.

While Brady's gesture is probably cold comfort to the collector who shelled out over a half-million bucks for the ball, the investor is probably -- hopefully? -- already in a good financial position to afford such an extravagance.
