Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin refuted a report that offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s role had changed.
“No,” said Tomlin, during is weekly news conference.
NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reported on Sunday that Canada now had “a more prominent role working with QB Kenny Pickett.”
Schultz added that Canada would continue to handle the offensive play-calling but would also work “directly with Pickett on a daily basis.”
Cook & Joe reacted to the report, saying they don’t believe in the report.
It was believed from the report that Canada would be on the field during games and no longer in the both.
Most Steelers insiders don’t believe there is anything to the report.
That would almost mean likely getting rid of quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan.
As Ron Cook pointed out, you can promote an offensive coordinator unless he is becoming head coach. Canada is already in charge of the offense.
“Pittsburgh believes in Canada and they anticipate this making a big difference,” Schultz said.
