There are Web Gems and there are Web Gems. And then there is A's second baseman Tony Kemp turning into Superman on Tuesday afternoon in Detroit to snare a line drive off the bat of Jeimer Candelario for what might go down as the Catch of the Year -- from the big leagues to Little League.

"That goes against a lot of laws when it comes to physics," the A's broadcast team said on NBC Sports California.

The catch was so impossible Kemp could hardly believe it himself. After soaring through the air and snatching the ball like Ozzie Smith, he sat up, mouth agape, and stared at his teammates for several seconds. He literally dropped his own jaw.

In the words of the A's color commentator: "Whaaaat!?"

A utility man who's spent six years in the majors thanks to his glove, Kemp is no stranger to the great play. But this has to be the best of his career. He still couldn't wrap his head around it in the dugout between innings.

It was a nice day at the ballpark for Kemp, who also collected two hits in the A's 4-1 win over the Tigers in the second game of a doubleheader. The Tigers won Game 1.
