As his career enters the final days, Miguel Cabrera's climb up the all-time MLB hits list continues.
Cabrera entered Saturday's game at Chicago tied with Hall-of-Famer George Brett for 18th on the list. And he passed Brett in vintage Miggy fashion.
Cabrera posted his first four-hit game since September 2021 as the Tigers pounded the White Sox 10-0.
Cabrera, with 3,158, now sits eight hits behind Adrian Beltre for 17th on the list with 26 games to go. He would have to rack up 26 hits down the stretch to tie Cal Ripken Jr. for 16th.
The four-hit outburst on Saturday wasn't just vintage Miggy, it was something the Tigers haven't seen in eight decades. The last player over 40 years old to have a four-game hit for Detroit was Chuck Hostetler, who joined the Tigers seven years after retiring, as many Major Leaguers had enlisted to serve in World War II.
Hostetler had a four-hit game against the St. Louis Browns on June 18, 1944.
