Now that the Patriots' uncharacteristic 2023-24 season has come to an end, it's the time to start wondering what's next for the franchise at head coach.

Bill Belichick himself, however, isn't for it just yet. He wouldn't entertain questions about his future following New England's 17-3 loss to the Jets on Sunday and instead, was focused on the game they just played:

"Disappointing finish there today," Belichick said as he opened his final postgame press conference of the season. "I have a lot of respect for the way the players competed. Have all year. I thought that was indicative of our competitiveness at the end. On the strip after the interception, recovered by [Vederian] Lowe. Really gave himself up on it, just played hard. But, you know, we just couldn't make enough plays to win."

"It's a disappointing year for all of us," he continued. "Players, coaches, staff. Entire organization. Not anything that any of us are in any way content with, so. But, it is what it is."

Belichick, widely considered the greatest coach in the history of the sport, has had his name connected to several open positions around the NFL. He's also reportedly 'expressed doubt' about his future in Foxborough, team ownership has reportedly already 'made a decision' about what's next for him, and he'll reportedly have a meeting with the Krafts this week to talk about the future. Belichick confirmed said meeting when speaking on Sunday:

"As far as the future goes," he explained. "I'll sit down with Robert [Kraft], as I do every year, at some point at the end of the season, and we'll talk about things, as we always do. I'm sure that'll happen. But that's really all I have to say about that right now because there isn't anything else to talk about."

While doing his best to duck questions about where he could potentially coach next season, Belichick didn't sound ready to hang up his whistle just yet:

"No, I mean I enjoy coaching," he said when asked if this year took any wind out of his sails. "...I still-- I like coaching the team, I like preparing the team, game-planning, coaching on Sundays. But the results [this year] weren't good and none of us are happy with those."

Belichick will speak at his annual end-of-season press conference on Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. with final locker clean out for players to follow. We'll have you up-to-date with coverage on all of it here at WEEI.com.
