PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – So it’s down to two, will it be the Steelers or Giants as NFL Network reports the Vikings are out on quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Reports for the last week plus that Minnesota was considering signing Rodgers to start for a team that won 14 games with Sam Darnold in 2024. Darnold signed a $100 million free agent deal with Seattle earlier this month. Quarterback JJ McCarthy was the Vikings first-round pick last year, but a preseason injury ended his season before he played in a regular-season game. With a team ready to contend for a Super Bowl, there was talk they may go with the veteran, but NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday they are no longer interested in Rodgers.
Minnesota is still pursuing a veteran for their QB room, but it will be to back-up McCarthy.
Pelissero also reports Rodgers is ‘expected to sign soon’ with one of those two teams.
Steelers have not had a losing season, you may have heard, under Mike Tomlin, but also haven’t won a playoff, nor been competitive, in playoff games in eight years. Over those same eight years, the Giants have had only one winning season and that was with nine wins. The Giants have won nine games in the last two seasons combined.
