Will Juan Soto be traded or will he stay in Washington? That's the $440 million question consuming baseball media ahead of MLB's trade deadline that's set for 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Jess Dougherty, The Post's Nationals beat writer, made an interesting remark about the tenor surrounding Soto trade discussions in the national media landscape, noting that it seems as though the national baseball reporters are beginning to hedge on whether Soto will actually be traded before the deadline.

Moments earlier, ESPN's Jeff Passan had observed on Sunday Night Baseball that it's "absolutely realistic there's no Juan Soto deal," perhaps one of the national reporters Dougherty was commenting on.

On Friday, Passan seemed to be singing a bit of a different tune, estimating that there was maybe an 80 percent chance Soto gets traded before the deadline. As for the 20 percent chance that he doesn't, Passan said that will depend on whether Nats GM Mike Rizzo agrees to lower his asking price.

Interestingly enough, Soto may be tiring of all the speculation, commenting after Sunday's game against the Cardinals (one of the leading candidates to land Soto in a potential trade) that he just wants to get it over with, whatever 'it' translates to in his case.

The next two days are sure to be filled with plenty of speculation. Stay tuned to 106.7 The Fan and TheFanDC.com for all the latest info.
