NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Donald Trump’s legal team on Thursday dismissed House Democrats who asked the former president to testify under oath for his Senate impeachment trial, calling the request a “public relations stunt.”

Rep. Jamie Raskin, one of the impeachment managers, sent a letter to Trump Thursday morning inviting him to “provide testimony under oath, either before or during the Senate impeachment trial, concerning (his) conduct on January 6, 2021.”
Trump’s attorneys Bruce Castor Jr. and David Schoen responded with a letter saying they were “in receipt of (Raskin’s) latest public relations stunt.”
“As you certainly know, there is no such thing as a negative inference in this unconstitutional proceeding,” they wrote. “Your letter only confirms what is known to everyone: you cannot prove your allegations against the 45th President of the United States, who is now a private citizen.”
“The use of our Constitution to bring a purported impeachment proceeding is much too serious to try to play these games,” they added.
