A police officer in Southlake, Texas is being called a hero for braving the frigid temperatures of a frozen pond to save a dog from drowning.
Sergeant Gaylon Music says they got a call of a dog trapped in a frozen lake, who couldn't get out and was struggling to stay afloat.
"The dog went under once, and when he went under again, I knew that dog didn't have much longer, I knew he wasn't going to make it" Music says.
So Music used a pole to break up the ice, then got shoulder-deep in the frigid water, holding onto a long rope.
He worried that he would have to go under to get the dog, but the dog's owner showed up with a float. Music says using the float and the pole they were able to get Shadow, a black lab, out of the water.
Both Music and Shadow are doing fine.
