DETROIT (WWJ) -- Downtown Detroit's troubled Leland House, one of the city's oldest buildings, is now under new ownership.
A federal bankruptcy judge approved a $3 million sale of the Leland House to Detroit-based Mudhish Development Company -- ending a years-long saga of crumbling infrastructure and building problems.
Most recently, a power failure that forced all residents from the building last year.
The sale includes a condition that all displaced tenants must be compensated.
The Detroit Tenants Union has until the end of the month to file a motion outlining requested.
The sale still needs to clear a few final closing steps.
One of downtown Detroit's oldest buildings, the Leland House opened in 1927. It's a beautiful old building with rich history, but has fallen into extreme disrepair. Any meaningful renovations would be a massive undertaking.
