LSU baseball is headed to its 15th Super Regional in program history, but after a long weekend out in Eugene, the upcoming weekend's will be much more sleep-schedule friendly.
Much of the Super Regional slate will kick off on Friday, but LSU and Tennessee will start their three-game set on Saturday.
FULL SCHEDULE (all time Central)
- GAME 1, Saturday, June 12: 6 p.m./ESPN2
- GAME 2, Sunday, June 13: 11 a.m. or 2 p.m./ESPN2 or ESPNU
- GAME 3, Monday, June 14 (if necessary): 3 p.m. or 6 p.m./ESPN2 or ESPNU
LSU: 38-23 (4th in SEC West, 13-17) ... the Tigers lost in their first game of the SEC tournament but overcome a regional loss to Gonzaga to win out in Eugene, taking down Oregon twice in two days to advance to the Super Regional in Knoxville
Tennessee: 48-16 (1st in SEC East (20-10) ... The Volunteers ran through the SEC East and to the final of the SEC Tournament before falling to Arkansas, but the losing ways didn't last long. Tennessee ran through the Knoxville regional with three wins in three days, the final two coming against Liberty.
No starters have yet been announced for the Tigers or the Volunteers, but LSU will have to buck the season's trend in the head-to-head matchup to find success.

HOW IT'S GONE
The Tigers started 1-5 in SEC play, a difficult start that included a three-game sweep at the hands of the volunteers in late March.
- March 26: Tennessee 3, LSU 1; W: Chad Dallas; L: Landon Marceaux
- March 27: Tennessee 9, LSU 8 (11); W: Sean Hunley; L: Devin Fontenot
- March 28: Tennessee 3, LSU 2; W: Sean Hunley; L: Garrett Edwards
Since the NCAA Tournament expanded to the Super Regional format in 1999, LSU has made the second round 15 times including this season. But 2021 marked the first time the Tigers advanced after losing their first game in their respective regional.
The Tigers are 17-11 all-time in super regional games, and have advanced out of that round to the College World Series in eight of those opportunities. But those CWS trips have been similarly feast or famine for LSU, with only one of them -- 2008 against UC-Irving -- coming after a loss in either of the first two games of the Super Regional.
