LSU baseball is a national champion, for the 8th time -- and they've got the schedule set for when they'll celebrate that fact back in Baton Rouge.
The Tigers departed Omaha Monday morning, after a 5-3 win and title series sweep over Coastal Carolina, and were scheduled to arrive at Alex Box Stadium at 3 p.m.
The full-scale, national championship celebration is scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday at Alex Box Stadium, with gates opening at 7 p.m. Exact details of how that will be conducted have not yet been announced, though it is expected to be similar to the event held after the national title in 2023.
"Our whole motto for the year was tough and together," Johnson said on the field after the win, "and that's what they did from Aug. 26th until now."
The event will include a musical performance from Timothy Wayne, a rising country artist and current LSU student, as well as the presentation of the national championship trophy, comments from head coach Jay Johnson, players and several others.
Johnson will have to come up with some new material, winning his second title in just four seasons since taking over in Baton Rouge. He's the fastest coach ever to win his second title with a new program.
Admission for the event is free. Fans should enter the stadium through gates 0-3. Concessions will be available, with parking on a first come, first served basis in the Bullpen, Hall of Fame, Old Front Nince, Gourrier South, Levee South and Hayfield lots. The ceremony will be televised live on SEC Network and streamed on Facebook.
