Mekhi Wingo to Lions: LSU DT becomes 6th Tiger picked in 2024 draft

It's been a busy three days for the LSU Tigers, with DT Mekhi Wingo going off the board to the Detroit Lions at No. 189.

Wingo was the sixth LSU player off the board across the 2024 draft and the third member of the defensive line, along with Maason Smith and Jordan Jefferson.

Mekhi WIngo saw his profile rise in the 2022 season as he filled in for an injured Smith, rolling up 46 tackles and 3 sacks. His stats dipped somewhat on a struggling defense, but he'll look to deliver on that promise with the Lions.

The packed LSU draft class started early with QB Jayden Daniels (1.2, Commanders), followed by WR Malik Nabers (1.6, Giants) and WR Brian Thomas Jr. (1.23, Jaguars). The trip of Thomas, Smith and Jefferson will all team up in Jacksonville.
