Pelicans strike deal for full-time local broadcasts, dumping Bally Sports: report
The New Orleans Pelicans are coming to a broadcast near you, and that broadcast will no longer be operated by Bally Sports.
The team has agreed to a new deal to broadcast their games over the air full-time starting in the 2024'-25 season, according to a report from NOLA.com, moving on from their partnership with Diamond Sports and Bally.
The new, multi-year deal with Gray Television will increase accessibility for local fans, building off a smaller, experimental deal struck to show a handful of games on WVUE-TV/FOX 8 during the 2023-'24 season.
According to NOLA.com, citing Neilsen data, the viewership of the seven games broadcast over the air drew an average of more than 46,000 household in viewership, a 260% increase over the average drawn by Bally Sports.
The popular broadcast duo of Joel Meyers and Antonio Daniels will continue calling the games in the new broadcast agreement.
