Report: Several Pelicans players, personnel receive first dose of COVID-19 vaccine
Several of the New Orleans Pelicans players and personnel received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a report from ESPN’s Andrew Lopez.
Per the report, a majority of the eligible Pelicans players received a shot.
Pelicans guard Sindarius Thornwell tweeted Friday that he was receiving the vaccine shot and Pelicans forward Nicolo Melli tweeted Saturday that he received the vaccine as well.
I got the first Covid vaccine shot yesterday. I feel lucky that I had this opportunity. Can’t wait to get second shot in three weeks.

If you can, get it. #vaccine
Earlier this week Louisiana expanded the vaccine eligibility to people over the age of 16 with health conditions such as obesity or asthma. Obesity is calculated by body mass index making a larger amount of the population eligible even professional athletes.
