The New Orleans Saints will be looking for cornerback help this offseason, with one of their free agents landing with a new team early in the process.
Paulson Adebo has agreed to terms with the Giants. According to reports the deal is for $30 million over 3 years. Adebo has been documenting his recovery from a broken femur suffered during week 7 of last season.
Adebo was in line for a potentially bigger payday prior to the injury, but still cashed in after four strong seasons with the Saints that saw him start 52 of 58 possible games prior to the injury, including all 17 games of his rookie season. Over that span Adebo rolled up 254 tackles, 43 passes defensed and 10 interceptions. The Saints also moved on from longtime star CB Marshon Lattimore last year in a midseason trade to the Commanders.
The Saints' CB room now consists of a trio of young players in Kool-Aid McKinstry and Alontae Taylor, both second round picks, and Rico Payton, a UDFA from last season. The Saints have multiple options to add defensive backs in the draft, and they'll have to find pieces to fit the a new scheme brought in by coordinator Brandon Staley.
The Saints to this point have not been linked to any free agents during the legal tampering period, with deals being able to be made official on Wednesday, the first day of the new league year. The Saints have signed a handful of their own players and also swung a trade for former LSU standout Davon Godchaux, who spent the past four seasons on the Patriots.
