The New Orleans Saints didn't meet much resistance as they rolled over the Jets in the second half of a 29-6 win in the Caesars Superdome this week.
That meant a third straight victory for the Saints to continue building their winning culture, but also some time for veterans in Cam Jordan and Taysom Hill to soak in the moment with throwback performances in what could've been their final home game. It was a day that underscored the legacy of both players, in very different ways, as Bobby Hebert explained in his postgame rant.
"We don’t know what the future is going to hold as far as monumental Saints players as of late, like the Cam Jordans of the world, Taysom Hill," Hebert said. "You know, Cam Jordan surpasses Pro Football Hall of Famer Rickey Jackson … so Cam Jordan is a Pro Football Hall of Famer. I think that’s where Cam is at, and what more can you say about, if this is his last hurrah because of his age, Taysom Hill, truly unique player."

Jordan's moment -- or moments -- came in the first half, when he almost singlehandedly torpedoed a drive with sacks on back-to-back plays. Those plays moved him into No. 15 on the all time sack list and also triggered $800,000 in performance incentives built into his contract that was reworked prior to the season. Jordan's 8 sacks lead the team through 15 weeks and are his highest total since he had 12 in the 2021 season.
Taysom, meanwhile, cemented his legacy as a once-in-a-generation player. The Saints featured Hill early and often, and his 4 catches for 36 yards brought his career receiving total up to 1,002 yards. That made the Saints' do-it-all player the first in the Super Bowl era to log 1,000 yards as a passer, runner and receiver. You'd have to go back to the leather helmet days to find another comparable player.
Both Jordan and Hill had large family contingents at the game. Hill fought back tears at the podium as he discussed his future.
"However you describe him, Swiss Army Knife, jack of all trades. You look at Taysom Hill, man, I was glad that coach Moore and all was to get aggressive and let him throw that pass at the end," Hebert continued.
The question looming for both players will be whether the Saints bring them back, and if not, do they head elsewhere or retire. Jordan has been making not-so-subtle pitches to him team of late, even with two games remaining on the schedule. Mark the Cajun Cannon down as being on board for a potential Year 16.
“We need to talk to Mickey Loomis," Hebert said. "Until somebody beats him out why can’t Cam Jordan be on the team next year? If he’s not on the team, you know why? Too much money. It’s not because he can't play. Cam Jordan can still play.”
The Saints (5-10) finish out their season with a pair of home games, starting with a matchup with the Titans (3-12) in Week 16. Catch all the action on WWL and Audacy.
