Roman Harper: Saints 2024 draft class loaded with 'boom' potential

As a former Alabama standout himself, Roman Harper knows a thing or two about the Crimson Tide defensive back factory.

It's no coincidence that Nick Saban's teams have turned out plenty of NFL star cornerbacks, and as Harper explained on WWL Radio this week, Kool-Aid McKinstry is no exception.

"The sky is the limit as far as talent. He’s been rated the highest since coming out, you know, so to get what you thought was gonna be a top-tier corner in the draft in the second round, you love it," said Harper, now an analyst for the SEC Network. "So the potential part is boom as well.”

But that boom opportunity exists elsewhere in this draft for the Saints, Harper explained, in the form of Spencer Rattler. The South Carolina QB is another talent that Harper watched closely as an analyst.

"Love it," Harper said. "There’s no pressure on the young man to be anything but what he has been, and the fact that it comes out later on that he got knocked in the draft because of a video that he allowed to be in when he was 17. It stinks, but it’s still in the draft, and you’re going to be in the best position you ever have,"

The Saints draft class also includes Oregon State OT Taliese Fuaga (1.14), Pitt WR Bub Means (5.170), Texas LB Jaylan Ford (5.17), Northern Iowa DT Khristian Boyd (6.199) and Eastern Kentucky OT Josiah Ezirim (7.239).
