Saints bringing back familiar cornerback on 3-year deal: report

The New Orleans Saints' latest free agent signing is a familiar name.

The team has agreed to terms on a 3-year contract with Isaac Yiadom, according to reports, worth $9 million with a max of $10.5 million with incentives. The deal has $4.86 million guaranteed.

Yiadom, who goes by Ike, spent the 2023 season with the Saints and filled in as a starter for 8 games with Marshon Lattimore out with injury. The former Boston College standout showed well and logged 37 tackles, 14 passes defensed and an interception. Yiadom signed with the 49ers for the 2024 season where he teamed up with now-Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, who was serving as the 49ers assistant head coach. Yiadom started five games for the 49ers, registering 46 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 6 passes defensed and an interception.

The Saints will be running a significantly different scheme from the one Yiadom worked in under Dennis Allen that season, but many of his teammates will be the same.

Yiadom will join a young group of cornerbacks that includes a pair of recent second-round picks in Alontae Taylor and Kool-Aid McKinstry, along with UDFAs in Rico Payton and Shemar Jean-Charles. McKinstry and Taylor started on the outside over the second half of last season with Paulson Adebo and Marshon Lattimore each battling injuries. Lattimore was ultimately traded to the Commanders midseason, while Adebo signed a free agent deal with the Giants.

The Saints have been reasonably quiet in free agency, with the only major splash a 3-year, $30 million deal to former Chiefs safety Justin Reid. The Saints also signed TE Jack Stoll, traded for former Patriots DT Davon Godchaux, re-signed veteran WR Dante Pettis and gave 3-year extensions to DE Chase Young and TE Juwan Johnson.
