Saints legend Jimmy Graham retiring with Saints
Jimmy Graham's last NFL snap came two years ago with the Saints, and he'll officially retire with a Saints logo.
Graham's intentions were officially reported by the Saints reporter John Deshazier, with Graham adding: "What a journey."
It's the latest headline for Graham, barely a week after he completed the Arctic Challenge in record time.
“Jimmy is fantastic, and one of the really great things in the last few years was him coming back and playing for us another year and I just appreciate him so much," Saints GM Mickey Loomis said. "I’m excited that he, you know, wanted to retire as a Saint, excited about what the future holds for him"
Graham began his illustrious career as a third-round round pick of the Saints out of Miami and he went on to star alongside Drew Brees in some of the most prolific offenses in team history. He was traded to the Seahawks in 2015 and played for the Packers and Bears before taking a year off in 2022, then signing with the Saints for one final season in 2023. His final career line is 719 catches for 8,545 yards and 89 touchdowns.
That final run only included six catches, but four of them went for touchdowns before he walked off the field for the final time.
"He’s such a talented guy, not just in football but in all walks of life and I think, what did he row across the arctic ocean or something crazy, not your typical offseason activities, but yea, what a fantastic player and a fantastic guy he is, so look forward to seeing him again soon.”
Graham is an obvious candidate for the team Hall of Fame when he's eligible, as well as the team's Ring of Honor, the latest addition being Graham's former teammate Jahri Evans last season.
