Saints re-sign RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire to 1-year deal
Clyde Edwards-Helaire will be sticking around with the Saints for at least one more season.
The New Orleans Saints announced Thursday that the team had agreed to a 1-year deal with the former LSU star, meaning he'll stick around through at least the offseason in the running back room as they kick off a new coaching era.
Edwards-Helaire was a member of LSU's title team in 2019 and was a first-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs. He won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs but never fully lived up to expectations as he dealt with injuries and other off-field issues. He was waived midway through the 2024 season and signed to the Saints practice squad, taking on a significant role over the final two weeks of the season. The 25-year-old rolled up 46 yards on 13 carries, along with another 24 yards on four catches and displayed some burst on an otherwise uninspiring Saints offense.
The Saints have since hired a new head coach in Moore, who was officially introduced earlier in the day. Edwards-Helaire will rejoin a running back room that's still led by star Alvin Kamara, and also includes Kendre Miller, a third round pick from 2023 that has battled injuries throughout his short career.
