Saints sign WR Marquez Callaway, reunite with former UDFA standout

The New Orleans Saints have some depth concerns in their WR room, and they'll be looking to a familiar face for that.

The Saints have signed WR Marquez Callaway, a move announced Thursday. Callaway spent the first portion of the offseason with the Steelers before being released in July.

The organization is plenty familiar with Callaway, whom they brought in as a UDFA in the 2020 season out of Tennessee. The 26-year-old had a significant role the next two seasons before spending time with the Broncos and Raiders in 2023, though he did not appear in a game and ultimately returned to the Saints as a member of the practice squad.

In four years with the Saints Callaway appeared in 45 games, 17 starts, and caught 83 passes for 1,069 yards and 7 touchdowns.

The Saints waived TE Tommy Hudson in a corresponding move, with Hudson leaving practice with an injury on Wednesday.

Injuries have begun to pile up at Saints training camp, including to a pair of veteran wide receivers in Equanimeous St. Brown (hamstring) and Cedrick Wilson (groin) who missed practice on Wednesday. Rookie Bub Means is also dealing with a shin injury.

The Saints were off from practice on Thursday after three consecutive full-pad sessions, and they'll return for another pair of padded practices on Friday and Saturday.
