Saints waiving 2nd-year WR A.T. Perry: reports

The New Orleans Saints are making a roster move at wide receiver.

The team is planning to waive WR A.T. Perry, a 6th round pick from the 2023 draft, according to reports. The news was first reported by NewOrleans.football.

Perry, whom the Saints picked out of Wake Forest with a pick acquired in a draft-day trade of Adam Trautman, has struggled to stay healthy this season and most recently was dealing with a hamstring issue. He had yet to be active for a game this season, though he did return to practice on Thursday.

The 6-6 WR with jump ball and big-play ability saw limited action in his rookie season, but did have a nose for the end zone. He was active for 12 games in 2023 and caught 12 of 18 targets for 246 yards, including four touchdowns.

The move will certainly launch rumors surrounding WR Davante Adams, who recently requested a trade from the Raiders, has strong links to Saints QB Derek Carr and WRs coach Keith Williams and coincidentally also has worn No. 17 throughout his career. With several players injury, the Saints have signed G/C Conner MvGovern off the Jets practice squad, according to a report from NewOrleans.football and will add him to the active roster.

The Saints also recently added WR and return specialist Jermaine Jackson to the practice squad, waiving rookie RB Jacob Kibodi. It's possible they could bring Perry back to the practice squad again if he clears waivers.
