Saints Week 16 injury report, Friday: Derek Carr misses yet another practice

The New Orleans Saints are trending toward having a backup QB start a game for the fifth time this season, with starting QB Derek Carr (left hand) missing his second practice of the week.

Interim head coach Darren Rizzi wouldn't rule out Carr to start the week, but he did declare that Spencer Rattler would be on the starting line if it came to that. A week ago it was Jake Haener in that role.

The only other change on Friday's injury report, the second of the week, was Marquez Valdes-Scantling being listed with an illness. Rizzi said that there's been a bug going around the locker room. Alvin Kamara was down with something a week ago, and Chase Young missed the first two practices of the week with an illness of his own.

Here's the full Friday injury report:
DNP = did not participate; LP = limited participation; FP = full participation

- QB Derek Carr (left hand): DNP | DNP
- RB Alvin Kamara (groin): DNP | DNP

- TE Juwan Johnson (foot): LP | LP

WR Chris Olave (head) was limited for a second consecutive day in his return from IR window, though Rizzi hasn't set any timeline as to when the star WR might get back onto the active roster. RB Alvin Kamara (groin) missed his second day of practice and is highly doubtful to play on Monday Night Football against the Packers.

The Packers' injury report also didn't have any changes from Thursday:
- S Javon Bullard (ankle): DNP | DNP
- LB Quay Walker (ankle): DNP | DNP
- CB Corey Ballentine (knee): LP | LP
- TE Luke Musgrave (ankle): LP | LP
- CB Jaire Alexander (knee): FP | FP

The Saints (5-9) visit the Packers (10-4) for a Monday Night Football showdown at Lambeau Field in Week 16. Catch all the action on WWL and Audacy.
