Tyler Shough wins fan vote for Pepsi Rookie of the Year award

Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough has landed his first major accolade of the offseason, landing the Pepsi offensive rookie of the year award voted on by the fans.

This award is based entirely by an online vote. Players who won weekly awards throughout the season were eligible in the vote. The award is different from the league's offensive rookie of the year award, which is voted on by the media and will be announced Thursday evening at the annual NFL Honors ceremony.

"I am truly humbled and honored to be chosen for this award," Shough said in a news release. "Coming in as a rookie, my goal was to do anything I could to contribute to our team's success. Whatever I was asked to do, I just wanted to help the team. This wouldn't be possible without all of my teammates and coaches giving everything they had each and every week to help us win. This award is truly a reflection of all of their hard work."

Shough is the fourth Saints player to win the award along with George Rogers (1981), Rueben Mayes (1986) and Alvin Kamara (2017).

The Saints drafted Shough No. 40 overall in 2025. He began the year second string behind Spencer Rattler after an offseason competition. Shough took over the job in Week 9 and never looked back, leading the Saints to a 5-4 record over the final nine weeks of the season. That run included a four-game winning streak and back-to-back 300-yard passing games in wins over the Jets and Titans.

Shough finished the season completing 67.6% of his passes for 2,384 yards and 10 touchdowns against 7 interceptions. He also ran for another 183 yards and three touchdowns. He set new franchise passing records in most categories, including yardage, touchdowns and wins. Shough's completion percentage was the third highest all time among qualified passers, per the team.

Shough was also named to the PWFA All-Rookie team and was tabbed as Rookie of the Month for December and January. He is one of the five finalists for NFL's version of the award.
