Kool-Aid McKinstry had to wait 40 picks to hear his name called in the NFL Draft, but the Saints made sure to shorten that wait with a trade up to No. 41 to select the former Alabama standout.
The Birmingham native was stoic as he received the call, but as he stood up tears ran down his face as he announced to the crowd on-hand: "Going to the Saints."

McKinstry was the second pick of the Saints along with Oregon State OT Taliese Fuaga at No. 14. He was also the second Alabama cornerback selected, joining teammate Terrion Arnold who went off the board to the Lions a day earlier.
The Saints sent their Nos. 165 and 190 selections to the Packers to move up from 45, but were yet to make any more moves as picks ticked away into the third round. The Saints' next pick is 150, the first of their five remaining Day 3 picks.
