Reigning Mrs. World Caroline Jurie has been arrested for her behavior during the "Mrs. Sri Lanka" competition.

During the controversial ceremony, Jurie reportedly injured the new winner, Pushpika De Silva, when she pulled the crown off of her head.

"Police arrested Caroline Jurie and model Chula Padmendra over Sunday's incident on charges of simple hurt and criminal cause," police spokesman Ajith Rohana told the BBC.

In a Facebook post, De Silva described the physical and mental pain she suffered due to the incident. She revealed that she even went to the hospital for head injuries following the incident.

“The pain of my skull when my crown was snatched from my head by the world married beauty queen,” De Silva wrote. “The pain I felt when I lost the crown is more than both.”

In a press conference shortly after, De Silva stated: "There are a lot of single mums like me today who are suffering in Sri Lanka.”

"This crown is dedicated to those women, those single mums who are suffering to raise their kids alone,” she added.

De Silva also said she would pursue legal action for the "unreasonable and insulting" behavior towards her.

Per the outlet, Jurie and another model involved, Chula Padmendra, were bailed out and must appear in court on April 19.

Pageant organizer Chandimal Jayasinghe said that she expects Jurie to issue a full apology.

"We are disappointed. It was a disgrace how Caroline Jurie behaved on the stage and the Mrs World organisation has already begun an investigation on the matter,” she said.

De Silva has since been re-crowned the winner.

The “Real Housewives”-esque altercation occurred at the televised pageant on April 4th after De Silva was crowned the winner.

Jurie, who was set to crown the winner, pulled the crown off of De Silva’s head declaring that she should be disqualified over her marital status.

"As for the Mrs. World Inc., there's a rule that you'll have to be married, and not divorced,” Jurie said. She then gave the crown to the runner-up.
