Capitol Police reportedly respond to threat at DNC headquarters

According to reports, Capitol Police were called to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters in Washington D.C. Thursday.

Tension is high in the U.S. this week after multiple recent school shootings and the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah Wednesday. Thursday also marks the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

A screenshot posted by NewsNation White House Correspondent Libbey Dean on X said that Capitol Police were “responding to an incident at the DNC.” It asked staff to remain clear of police activity and asked for people to report suspicious activity.

POLITICO reporter Holly Otterbein posted this statement, attributed to a DNC spokesperson, on X: “This afternoon, there was a bomb threat to DNC HQ that was determined to not be credible by the U.S. Capitol Police. Out of an abundance of caution, Capitol Police is conducting an interior sweep of the building. As DNC Chair Ken Martin has said, political violence in every form has no place in our country. We are grateful to the U.S. Capitol Police and DNC building security for responding quickly and professionally.”
