More details about former First Lady Melania Trump’s upcoming book have been released since Audacy reported on the upcoming publication in July. Here’s what we know so far.
When it will be out
“Melania” is set to come out on Oct. 1 – around a month before American voters decide whether her husband, GOP candidate former President Donald Trump, or Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris will take the Oval Office. It’s now available for pre-order on the former first lady’s website, as well as on Amazon.
Prices on Melania’s website start at $40, then go up to $75 for a signed copy and $150 for a special edition. On Amazon, the book is now available for pre-order with a discounted price of $24 and a Kindle edition is available for $17.
This week, FOX News Digital reported that the book had already landed on multiple bestseller lists. As of Aug. 26, it was at the top of the memoirs list, its “US Presidents” list and the “Political Leader Biographies” category. By Saturday it was 17 on the memoir list and seventh on the political leaders list.
“Writing my memoir has been an amazing journey filled with emotional highs and lows,” the former first lady told Fox News Digital. “Each story shaped me into who I am today.”
Most information about the book so far depicts it as having a simple black cover with “Melania” written on it in white. The special edition offered through Melania’s website features a white cover with black lettering.
SheKnows reported that the book cover has been causing controversy on social media.
“The all-black cover with stark white text looks very similar to the Chanel Catwalk book by Patrick Mauriès. While that comparison is drawing debate on social media, it’s a cover that doesn’t say much,” said the outlet. Per The Independent, The Daily Beast first made the connection.
Audacy previously reported that “Melania” will be released by Skyhorse Publishing. This controversial publisher has released titles such as: “The Real Anthony Fauci: Bill Gates, Big Pharma and the Global War on Democracy and Public Health” by Trump’s current independent challenger for the White House, Robert F, Kennedy, Jr., and “Apropos of Nothing”, controversial film director Woody Allen’s autobiography.
What’s inside
According to the description of the book on Amazon, Melania “reflects on her Slovenian childhood, the pivotal moments that led her to the world of high fashion in Europe and New York, and the serendipitous meeting with Donald Trump,” in the memoir.
It describes the couple’s meeting as “a chance encounter that forever changed the course of her life.”
Details about their courtship and her joy at becoming a mother will also be included in the memoir, per the description. Melania, 54, and Trump, 78, married in 2005. Their son, Barron, was born the following year.
He graduated from high school this year and, according to reports, is attending college in New York City.
“New York City captivated my heart the moment I arrived, 28 years ago today,” Melania said this week in an X post. “This electrifying town isn't just my home; it’s a colorful canvas where dreams come alive. New York’s iconic skyline and vibrant culture inspire me every day.”
Trump’s family also spends a considerable amount of time at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla.
Readers can also expect Melania to share “behind-the-scenes stories from her time in the White House, shedding light on her advocacy work and the causes close to her heart,” according to the Amazon description. In particular, it said she’ll explore what it is like to be a first lady who was born outside of the U.S.
“Our lives are shaped by our experiences, challenges, and achievements. For the first time, I share my journey with you, in my new memoir, Melania,” she said in a Aug. 25 X post.
Melania received criticism for using parts of a speech by former First Lady Michelle Obama in her own speech without citing her in 2016 and a speechwriter later took responsibility for the mistake, NPR reported. While some have wondered if Melania’s book might have a co-writer, she is the only author listed on Amazon. Her husband’s famous 1987 tome “The Art of the Deal” was written with the help of journalist Tony Schwartz.
