Shake Shack is the latest restaurant to bravely throw their hat into the ring of the fast-food chicken sandwich wars.
On Tuesday, the burger chain released their all new Korean Fried Chick’n Sandwich as the latest addition to the menu in 2021.
“Our new limited edition Korean-inspired Menu just landed at the Shack! Our take on Korean-Style Fried Chick’n was such a hit at our Shacks in South Korea, we had to bring it to the US!” the company said in a Twitter post.
The new sandwich combines crispy chicken breast with a spicy-sweet Gochujang glaze and toasted sesame seeds, served over a white kimchi slaw, according to CNN Business.
The company also promoted their Korean Gochujang Chick’n Bites and Korean Gochujang Fries. Both savory treats come with an optional Gochujang mayo sauce for dipping or drizzling.
Customers can purchase the Chick’n bites in a 6-piece size option for $5.19, or a 10-piece size option for $7.19.
The new chicken menu options will only be available at participating restaurants until April 5th, 2021.
In the last couple of years, many fast-food restaurants have hopped on board the latest craze for chicken sandwiches. In 2019, Popeyes released its popular spicy chicken sandwich that quickly sold out nationwide.
Shortly after, Popeyes openly took on popular fried-chicken rival Chick-fil-A, after posting Sunday position openings, the one day Chick-fil-A is known to be closed.
In March of 2020, Buffalo Wild Wings also joined in on the chicken war by releasing a sandwich they claimed was "way better" than Popeyes'.
Shake Shack’s new Korean Fried Chick'n sandwich is made in partner with family-run business Choi’s Kimchi Co., based out of Portland, Oregon.
