Fasten your seat belts, lower the safety bar and say a prayer, because the world’s tallest, longest and fastest single-rail roller coaster is closer to becoming a reality.

Six Flags has announced the final piece of track for their newest thrill ride has been put into place.

The Jersey Devil Coaster is set to open later this year at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey and it isn’t for the faint of heart.

“Towering 13 stories, at speeds up to 58 mph, Jersey Devil Coaster riders will soar single file through the dark and foreboding woods over 3,000 feet of track. Inspired by infamous New Jersey mythology, the cutting-edge coaster will feature five intense elements including three dramatic inversions,” the company said in a press release, according to CBS News.

Six Flags shared a video showing the orange steel piece being placed at the top of the track next to an American flag.

While many other facets of the coaster still need to be finished before the ride can open, the Jersey Devil Coaster will be composed of four trains holding 12 passengers each. In addition to an 87-foot drop, the ride will feature three inversions,  a 180-degree stall and a zero-gravity roll. Gulp!

Production on the coaster was delayed by the COVID pandemic as some of the metal parts were unable to be manufactured at the time.

While Six Flags Great Adventure reopened this summer with multiple safety precautions in place, the park has yet to announce a date for the Jersey Devil Coaster’s launch.
