St. Tammany health officials: We are at war with the Delta Variant
Hospitals are at a tipping point in St Tammany Parish.
St Tammany parish Coroner Dr. Charles Preston says their hospitals are over run with COVID patients.
“We are at war with the Delta Variant and this is D-Day,” said Preston “It has come down to this critical point, where, if we don’t get enough people vaccinated, and enough people don’t take personal responsibility to mitigate the spread of the virus, again you don’t need a crystal ball to know what is happening, just look at last year but imagine it one hundred times worst.”
Parish health officials and health system doctors pleaded with the people of St Tammany to mask-up and get vaccinated as their hospitals are filling with COVID patients.
“We have out-stripped the resources of our health care system,” said Preston. “We are in a dire emergency situation. The government cannot solve this. Only the actions of individual responsible citizens can stop this plague.”
In St. Tammany, there are 50 deaths due to COVID-19 reported and 2,720 people in the hospital according to the latest data from the Louisiana Department of Health.
“Get vaccinated and we may be able to overt a local and national economic disaster that is going to be answered with another three trillion dollar solution that the government does not have.”
