Friday, August 2, 2019 is "Dan + Shay Day" in the City of Pittsburgh!
Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto offered the official proclamation in the Y108 studios accompanied by Stoney Richards, Kristen and Cowboy Curt from the Y'd Awake morning show. Accepting on behalf of Dan + Shay were Dan Smyers' parents.
The proclamation was made in recognition of the efforts Dan + Shay made to help rebuild the Tree of Life Synagogue. On December of 2018, Dan + Shay performed at 'A Concert For Unity' at Byham Theater, which helped raise over $60,000 for the Tree of Life Synagogue following a mass shooting at the place of worship on October 27th of that year. The shooting left 11 people dead and seven injured and left the building in tatters.
