Have you ever dreamed of being an NHL goalie, but the furthest you've made it was a Zamboni driver?

Well don't lose hope now! It's still possible for you to make it happen!

Over the weekend, David Ayres, a 42-year-old Zamboni driver, was called on the Carolina Hurricanes to make his NHL debut as their emergency goalie.

Carolina summoned the emergency backup goalie in the second period of a 6-1 game against the Toronto Maple Leafs after both Hurricanes goaltenders James Reimer and Petr Mrazek went down to injuries.

While David might have given up two goals on three shots in the period, David ended up stopping all seven shots he faced in the third, helping the Hurricanes win 6 to 3.

David became the oldest goaltender in league history to win his regular-season debut.

To add even more to this story, David has had a kidney transplant and had two bouts of skin cancer.

The Carolina Hurricanes are currently selling t-shirts with with Ayres name and all of the proceeds going to a kidney foundation.

Talk about a dream come true for David Ayres!

Moral of the story, never stop dreaming!
