It's a sad day for racing fans and the Andretti family..
Thursday John Andretti passed away at the age of 56 after a long battle with cancer.
John was the nephew of NASCAR racing legend Mario Andretti, so he carried on the family racing tradition with a long career in both NASCAR, IndyCar and sports cars.
During a routine check up in January 2017, doctors told John he had Stage 3 colon cancer.
