Granger Smith and his wife Amber are celebrating their late son River‘s life by giving back to those in need.

Wednesday afternoon, just over two weeks after the 3-year-old tragically died in a drowning accident at home, Granger and Amber presented a check for $218,791 to Dell Children’s Medical Center, where River received medical attention before his death. The money is from their fundraising efforts with their tribute t-shirts.

Granger’s Yee Yee Apparel site has been selling “The River Smith Tribute Shirt”, which features an image of a Yee Yee Excavator with the name “Riv” on its body. The company shares that “Riv's favorite thing to do was watch excavators scoop up dirt,” adding that they chose the color red because it was River’s favorite.

The post says 100% of the proceeds from this shirt will go to Dell Children's Medical Center in honor of River Kelly Smith.

At the check presentation Wednesday afternoon, Granger said in front of the Medical Center, “This is just the beginning. Let this be a small token of the gratitude that we’ve got for you guys.”
His wife Amber added, “I pray that nobody else ever has to go through what we’ve gone through, but if they do, I hope they come here because y’all were incredible.”

The Smith's strength continues to amaze me.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family during this difficult time.
