It's that time once again to GET REAL.. This week's topic - THE WORD 'DATING'.
Sorry fellas, this week it's directed at you in particular, because I feel like I have to stand up for women once again when it comes to the dating world.. And the crazy level that you have us at in the dating world.
When it comes to the word 'dating', it's just that - A verb - To go on a date. Not the title boyfriend/girlfriend, not a marriage proposal, not the promise of a life long commitment or even the promise that you're going to go on a date in a month from now! Dating is simply a trial period with a person to see if there is any potential for a future with them.
It's extremely frustrating as a woman that men get so scared off by the word (or the idea of a title in general) that they look like a deer getting caught in headlights and try running for the hills whenever it's mentioned. All the while they thought that the actual dates with you, texting non-stop, weddings together and even potential sleepovers were just you two "having fun".
Newsflash: DATING CAN BE FUN.. when we're not overthinking it.
I'm not going to lie, we all overthink things when it comes to the opposite sex, but when it comes to the word 'dating', we're not assuming any title change to the relationship will be made until it is agreed upon by both parties. Let's be real here.. It's 2019. We need a Facebook relationship status change to believe it's actually real.
Also, if a woman says she is 'dating you' to her friends, take it as a compliment! She is acknowledging the fact that something could happen and that is FAR better than being in the friend zoned!
Moral of the story ladies and gents: The term dating means trial run with absolutely no guarantee, so stop being drama queens and being so scared of it.
