There are people in this world that make you want to be a better person.. They come in all shapes, sizes and definitely, all ages!
We hear inspirational stories all the time, but it's not until those stories are close to home that we see the real inspiration behind them all, and that is where I have to introduce you to the local girl who caught all of our attention this weekend, seven-year-old Kaley Bastine.
Most second graders spend their days with cartoons and toys, but not Kaley. The seven-year-old from Natrona Heights who aspires to be a police officer has been raising money for the Harrison Township Police Department in an effort to get more protective gear for the police department, as well as a K9!
Kaley has successfully had a lemonade stand, a cookie stand and a cash wash to raise over $3,000 for the department, but this time she wanted to do more.
Thanks to the help of Walmart and the locals businesses, Kaley raised over $10,000!
Kaley knew nothing about the check presentation, so needless to say, the seven-year-old was surprised when a few dozen Harrison police officers, a K-9 officer, a police dog from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office and several employees from the nearby Walmart showed up to the fundraiser.
The money that Kaley has already raised has gone to help Harrison police with the cost of new training and toward new protective equipment.
Kaley has no plans of stopping her fundraising efforts any time soon. Up next is a cake and a cupcake stand!
Way to go Kaley! Keep up the great work and spreading the inspiration!
