Talk about a happy ending to a sad start for one inspirational pup!
A Butler County pup named Boone is moving on to the semi-finals for the 2021 American Humane Hero Dog Awards, a national award for “ordinary dogs who do extraordinary things," but Boone is anything but ordinary.
Not only is Boone an ambassador for Joey’s PAW, a non-profit that raises money to provide prosthetics and wheelchairs to pets living with disabilities, Boone is a survivor of abuse. His previous owner had cut off his back legs, which now requires him to use a wheelchair to get around.
Boone is now a certified therapy dog for children in Western Pennsylvania and continues to inspire. He is also the star in a children's book, “Bow Tie Boone", which tells the story of Boone’s life and his training to be a therapy pet.
Second round voting is now underway through July 15; You can vote here.
The awards ceremony will be on the Hallmark Channel in October. Fingers crossed we will see Boone on the big screen!
