Local Pup Will Compete In Animal Planet's 18th Annual Puppy Bowl!

Some of us are looking forward to football next Sunday, while others are gearing up for the Puppy Bowl!

For the last 18 years, Animal Planet has shed a light on animal adoption & let pups have fun on the big screen for the big game day. While they have evolved the show to now include cats, birds and other adoptable animals, this year's Puppy Bowl just got a little more special, because it will include a LOCAL PUP!

According to the Trib, this Sunday you will be able to see local Oliver Wes, a 6-month-old golden retriever-chihuahua mix, that will be competing for Team Fluff.

Wex was adopted by Dave and Genevieve Kirk of Fox Chapel with the Sato Project, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit dedicated to saving dogs and cats in Puerto Rico.

You can watch Wes and all the other adorable animals this Sunday, February 13th at 2pm on Animal Planet.

This year's Puppy Bowl will feature over 100 dogs from 67 shelters in 33 different states. In past years, the Puppy Bowl included adoptable pups from our area, including Animal Friends that we often feature on Fido Fridays.
