Jameson has long been known for his songwriting, but more recently proved his credibility as an artist with his first #1, “Some Girls.” Hoping to continue his success with many more #1’s down the road, this project includes some previously-released songs that have helped propel his career, along with new tunes that show off brand-new ideas and fresh sounds from the Batesville, MS native.

In honor of the release, Jameson walked us through each track on the album sharing behind-the-scenes info, inspiration, and how all these songs came to be. Check out what he had to say below!

"One Day"

“Definitely one of my favorite songs on the record,” Jameson said of the lead song on the album. “That kind of song is the kind of song I like to write the most. [It’s] about having your heart broken and missing someone. I have no idea why I like to write these kinds of songs, but definitely one of my favorites.”

"Merle Haggard"

Influenced by Merle Haggard since he was young, it was only natural for Jameson to honor the Country great with a song on his debut album. Hear Rodgers explain the thought that went into the tune below, along with why it turned into a heartbreak song.

"Close To Anything"

“It’s just one of those up-tempo, rockin’ kinda love songs,” Jameson shared. “Kinda hard to write most of the time, but for whatever reason that one fell out pretty fast.”

"Bet You’re From A Small Town"

As a small-town boy himself, it’s not wonder Jameson had a hard time narrowing down all the ideas he had for this song that became the album’s title track. Hear how he and his co-writers made tough decisions trimming down their ideas and why it’s one of his favorite tracks on the album in his description below.

"Missing One"

As a fan-favorite for the past few years and a song Jameson holds near and dear as one of his favorite songs he’s ever written, there was no question this track deserved a spot on his debut album. “I couldn’t let it go,” Jameson shared. “I didn’t think it had gotten it’s fair shake!” After taking six months of writing every other week to finish it, we don’t blame him!

"You Won’t"

“It took us probably two or three hours to write,” Jameson said of this track. “Definitely a unique kind of a sound for me, I’ve never written a song with that feel and vibe, so definitely look forward to every body hearing’ that one.”

"Girl with the Broken Heart"

“In a way [this song] feels like ‘Some Girls 2.0,’” Jameson said of the song he wrote alongside HARDY and Jake Mitchell. Hear why Rodgers says writing this song took him back to his early days of songwriting in Nashville in his description below.

"Bars Back Home"

“We just wanted a classic, Country vibe-type song,” shared Rodgers of “Bars Back Home,” which was ultimately inspired by the joy a visit back home with old friends can bring. “We sat down and we wanted just a throwback, Country kinda vibe.”

"Porch with a View"

“A love song is really not my specialty, so this was about as sappy and love-songish as I’ll ever do,” Rodgers laughed. “Definitely a fun song to write and I look forward to playing it live.”

"Bringing it Back"

“Definitely a fun one to write,” shared Rodgers. “This is actually one of the older songs on the record and kind of a good ol’ boy love song. It’s not really one I want to write every day, but for whatever reason it just kind of fell out that day.”

"Girls That Smoke"

“Kind of feels like Tom Petty,” Jameson said of this Rock-n-Roll type song. Hear why it was one of the more difficult songs to write in his description below.

"Cold Beer Calling My Name"

“This song is slowly changing my life,” he said of the song penned in 2017 that he has now made a duet with Luke Combs. “When we wrote it, had no intentions of making it a duet or a feature of any kind… I just threw it out there [to Luke] hoping he would say yes, and luckily, he did!”

"Some Girls"

“Obviously my first #1 song,” recalled Rogers. “Went #1 during a pandemic — not exactly how you draw it up but, I fell in love with that song several years ago. I wasn’t a writer on that song, it was just a demo that I had heard through my best friends — HARDY, Jake Mitchell and CJ Solar — and I just always told those guys I would record it one day if nobody else did, and here we are!”

"Good Dogs"

As tribute to man’s best friend Jameson admits, “It was one of those we had to walk out of the room a time or two to shed a tear while we were writing it.” We don’t blame him! Hear him talk about growing up with his own dogs and how he crafted the song with his co-writers in the description below.

"Desert"

“One of the first songs written,” Jameson said of this track that came about while writing another song they didn’t end up finishing. “Too much sunshine makes a desert,” Rodgers said of the meaning, which is a theme that is played on both literally and figuratively through the lyrics.
